In the New Testament, In Luke 7:1-10, we
see the story of a highly ranked Roman officer, who openly blessed the Jews
with a synagogue. When his servant, became deathly ill, the Jewish elders
went to Jesus and explained how the centurion had blessed them and deserved
help. Jesus healed his servant immediately. A blessing.
Now, consider a more recent example, like that of Hitler.
Adolph Hitler was the twentieth century's most infamous example of a
persecutor of the Jewish people. His plans for world domination were crushed
and his life ended with suicide.
Behind Hitler was Germany, a country who led an outright assault and persecution of the Jews, they had been a major world power before WWII. But, since the Holocaust, they have never again gained the world prominence that they held before Hitler. A curse.

Spain, also illustrates the curse principle on a national scale. In
1492, a royal edict to expulsion was announced, which gave Jews only two
months to leave Spain or convert to Catholicism. Leaving was not easy, when no
money, jewels, gold or other portable forms of wealth could be taken out of
Spain. Some Jews sold large farms and all they owned for a donkey to pack a few
personal items, to leave Spain. Jews who remained were forced to become
Catholics, under pain of torture and death for refusal. Under Queen Isabella,
Spain had been a world power, capable of financing expeditions to the New
World, and claiming large portions of the Americas for the glory of Spain.
Within a hundred years after the expulsion of the Jews, Spain was no longer a dominant world power, today they never again rose to such prominence in world affairs as they held before their persecution of the Jews.

The United States may be the most interesting example of God's promise.
We have been Israel's best ally on the world stage. We support them and have
helped Israel many times, including during the 1967 Six Day War. Although our
help during the conflict was very late and minimal, at least we were on the
right side when we finally acted. Today, many nations recognize our commitment to their survival.
United States has been a channel of blessings for Israel. Some say that the only reason God has not brought judgment on our nation is that we are friends with Israel. For whatever reason, we are still prosperous and blessed. We bless Israel.
God’s promise will always be kept and those who bless Israel will be blessed. Those who curse Israel will be cursed. In Genesis 12:1-3 Now the Lord said to Abram, "Get out of your country, from your family and your father's house, to the land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
Recently, Hugo Chavez, president of Venezuela, died of cancer. He had a strong ideology and had accomplished a lot for himself as president of his country. Most definitely, he had a gift for talking and could speech the camera for hours. He has always spoken negative about the United States and made clear his alliance and allegiance to Cuba, Iran and the Soviet Union. Then he crossed the line, he cursed Israel. In his words, from his soul and from his visceral, which means his insides he said I curse Israel. Then the curse called cancer ate his insides and robbed him of life. Watch the video below. A sad end to any human being's life...so, be careful who you curse. Voice your opinion I want to hear it!

Wow, that's deep amen.
Very powerful Pastor Vic. Are words can come back and haunt us. They did him.
While I overall agree with your point about being careful who you curse I would point out that Germany is Europe's most dominate nation today. It has the strongest economy and takes the lead in the European Union. Regarding the Spanish, the "curse" would apply to other European Nations that expelled the Jews during the Middle Ages as well. While the Spanish are no longer dominate in wealth, their legacy carries on to more than half the new world through our language and heritage. Your point of America and Israel is controversial in that a person would have to decide to support Israel without conditions or be a friend of Israel yet point out that it cannot continue to treat the Palestinians inhumanly. As Christians we should treat all races/cultures/peoples with respect. When pilgrims go to Bethlehem the person who provides the tour is usually Arab Christians who have lived there since the days of the Early Church. Who is right than?
Thank you for your comment Anonymous I really appreciate it. In Amos 9:11,13 God said over 2,500 years ago that God was going to restore King Davids Tent hundreds of years after King David's time. The star of David is the national flag's symbol and in 1948 they became a nation for the second time as previously prophesied. In Zechariah 8:7-8 over 2,000 years ago God also said he was going to bring them back to live in Jerusalem and in 1967, it came to pass and millions of Jews from around the world are arriving, just as God said it was going happen. We can blame God for bringing his people back miraculously. The treatment of the Palestinians should be humane and they deserve to be respected, but God gave those lands to his people and today they are claiming it back. All this is in aligning the end times, many prophesies didn't make sense and could never be fulfilled until the there was a nation called Israel and before 1948 they had no relevancy to the current events. The Holocaust by Germany, gave way to the formation of the nation of Israel, by the U.N. That nation was given birth with major pain and suffering, without their horrific war crimes, the sympathy that the world showed Israel would have never come, giving them the opportunity to become a nation. God is sovereign and works in mysterious ways. The end is nearer than we think.
My only concern is this. As I watch TV, all I witness is the unconditional support for Israel by certain Christian denomination that amounts to hypocrisy. Yes they are the chosen people by God but as the Jews even in Israel ponder, what is a true Jew? And if they can't make up their own mind, why as Christians do we support the atrocities that occur in the Holy Land unconditionally. I agree that the Jewish state should exist, however they shouldn't get a blind pass just because it was biblical. Respect ushers respect. Goodness comes from God. It's like the Americans taking over Native American lands due to Manifest Destiny aka God's wish. God made a promise and God has kept it by returning them to their ancient home. With that said who determines that border? King Solomon built an empire that stretch to modern day Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan. Are we than to believe that if Israel reconquered that land we would be ok with that too? No. Right is right and wrong is wrong. That is what we teach our children, not that it's ok for them but not the rest of the world. I've had discussions with my Jewish friends who believe it or not would not be considered Jewish enough by the ultra orthodox council in Israel on this matter. Well enough for now. God Bless.
Thank you for your comment Anonymous great perspective.
